One of the most overlooked styles of exercising is bodyweight exercises or bodyweight calisthenics. If you want to achieve a great level of functional fitness, this would be the type of exercise you want to incorporate into your workouts.

It’s been a while since I did much bodywork but I felt compelled to do so today. Especially since I didn’t do any walking this week. I did, however, do the ball exercises most of the week to help ease some tension.

I decided to do 15 Hindu pushups, 25 deep Hindu squats, and a 45-second count gymnastics bridge, followed by some dynamic stretching. I probably should have stretched first since I was somewhat stiff.

Needless to say, I had a little difficulty. That’s ok though, I feel like a million bucks now that I’m finished. I even feel accomplished now that I’m a tad sore. The funny thing is… I only exercised for 15 minutes.

If you haven’t exercised yet today, I encourage you to get out of your computer chair and knock out a couple of quick exercises.

If Hindu pushups are too hard, just do regular pushups. If deep Hindu squats are too hard, just squat down halfway. And finally, if you can’t do a gymnastics bridge, just lay back on a medicine ball.

This coming week, I’ll continue to do the ball exercises and knock out some additional bodywork. I’ll also be sure to go for a walk!
